Facebook’s “monetization eligibility” refers to the criteria creators must meet to earn money on the platform—covering in-stream ads, fan subscriptions, Stars, branded content, paid online events, and more.
1. Partner Monetization Policies (Required for all monetization tools) To monetize in any way, you must comply with Facebook’s foundational rules:
•Content & behavior: Adhere to Community Standards, Content Monetization Policies, intellectual property rules, authenticity requirements (no clickbait/misinformation), and avoid manufactured engagement .
•Authentic & original: You must own or have created the content, add meaningful enhancements, and refrain from resharing without modification .
•Established presence: Have had a Page, profile in Professional Mode, Event, or Group for at least 30 days .
•Location & age: Be in an eligible country and at least 18 years old .
•Payment compliance: Have a valid method ready and agree to Facebook’s payment terms .
2. In‑Stream Ads (Video Monetization). There are separate thresholds for on-demand videos and live broadcasts: •On-demand & short‑form: °600,000 total minutes viewed (combining on-demand, live, and previously-live) in the past 60 days. °At least 5 published videos Must have a Facebook Page (not a personal profile) with ≥ 10,000 followers.
Live videos (if you want in‑stream ads during live): °60,000 live minutes viewed in the past 60 days in addition to on-demand criteria above.
Payout details: Reach at least US $100 in earnings. Payments processed around the 21st each month .Facebook typically takes ~45%; you receive ~55%
3. Fan Subscriptions & Stars Fan Subscriptions: Available in many countries (e.g., India, UK, US, etc.) °Your Page needs:≥ 10,000 followers or ≥ 250 returning viewers °Either 50,000+ post engagements or 180,000+ video minutes watched in the past 60 days
Stars (Live tipping): Similar country/age requirements. Must stream in regions where Stars is available, comply with video/live rules (Reddit tips note it can get stuck despite correct setup) .
4. Branded Content & Paid Events •Branded content: You must clearly label commercial partnerships, have original content, engagement, and comply with policies. •paid events: You need a Page (not personal), compliance with policies, eligible location and payment method setup .
✅ 5. How to Check & Apply. 1. Visit Creator Studio → Monetization tab → Monetization Eligibility Checker. Status: Green (eligible), Yellow (warnings), or Red (ineligible).
2. From there, apply for in-stream ads, subscriptions, etc.
3. Monitor any Policy Issues section in Meta Business Suite to appeal violations .
💡 Additional Notes & Tips. Country glitches: Sometimes location issues or admin settings cause monetization blocks; pages can get unfairly marked “ineligible” even when criteria are met. Fixes include updating admin location or waiting for system refresh . Appeals: If flagged, you can request review for both content-level and partner-level strikes via Creator Studio .
Community feedback: Some creators highlight need for consistent original content—avoid rehashed clips/memes and focus on genuine, engaging uploads.
